Create a Maintenance Routine
No matter what time of year you’re living in, it’s important to create a maintenance routine that includes regular cleaning – a routine can help you keep things running smoothly and can also help you avoid some common winter cleaning mistakes.
- Set aside a specific day for cleaning – don’t put this off until spring rolls around, but the cleaning supplies out so that the chore is always at the top of your list.
- Make a schedule – set aside a few hours each week to tackle the big tasks; this will allow you to tackle other jobs easy cleaning around your house during the week that don’t fit into your regular schedule.
- Break the cleaning into smaller tasks – this will make it easier to fit into your schedule and stay focused. It’s easier to keep track of progress if you break it down into smaller steps.
Plan for the Spring
Spring cleaning is a great time to tackle any tasks that may have been postponed over the winter months, this includes getting the windows in your home cleaned, organizing your closets, and getting the gutters cleaned.
Have your garage and storage units serviced and make any repairs that need to be done and finally, get your car winterized before it gets too warm out. You never know when you might be traveling shortly, so it’s important to make sure your car is in good working order.
Wipe Down Your Window – It’s always important to keep your windows clean, but it’s especially important during the winter months; it’s easy for dirt and grime to accumulate on windowsills, inside doorways, and on exterior walls and this is a great place for dirt and pollen to collect and can make your home more susceptible to allergies.
Keep Your Patio Looking Good
Your patio is a wonderful place to relax and have some fun this time of year and it’s important to keep it looking good so that it doesn’t become a winter mess; use a pressure washer to get the grime off of your patio – it will help to loosen the dirt and debris on your patio, and it will be easier to remove with a broom or scrub brush to ensure that it’s properly cleaned and finally, keep your flowerbeds and vegetable gardens well-watered so that they don’t dry out during the winter months.
